Rekik was signed from Feyenoord in July 2011.
He made his official first team debut for Manchester City on September 21 2011 against Birmingham City in the third round of the League Cup, he came on as a substitute for Wayne Bridge in the last 12 minutes of the game. He made another late substitute appearance in the fourth round against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux On 22 March 2012.
Rekik then joined Portsmouth on a month's loan. He made his First senior League Appearance in his debut for Portsmouth on 27 March, a 2-0 home win against Hull. He was an ever-present figure in the Pompey defence and made 8 Appearences for them.
With Injurys to Cliche, Kolarov and Richards, on 22 December 2012 He Made his Premier League Debut in the left back position, in a 1-0 Home win against Reading. He did well and did not look out of place.
